Study Task 1 - 5 Examples of Editorials

I have always enjoyed car editorials and this looks really nice and is defiantly put together and laid out really well.. Photography seems to play a big part with editorials.

Naming The Dead focuses on the 176 soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq. It was designed to give a better understanding of the soldiers, where and how they died as well as covering issues relating to conspiracies about why the UK went to war. Research included interviews with soldiers and their families. I like the way the book uses different materials and textures to give it a much more rugged feel
This magazine uses a dramatic photograph accompanied with a beautifully elegant typeface. The whole editorial is actually made by the foil block used to spell out the word "two" without it i feel the whole piece would fail.
This editorial features many pages just covered with pages full of gold print on black stock. The actual magazine is amazingly put together with the layout leaving you dying to turn to the next page . I really like how the colour scheme makes the magazine pop.
This catalog uses varnishes and matt paper to contrast and give the impression of different materials. This makes you want to pick it up and feel it. The inside is clean and crisp with a minimal feel.

Study Task 1 - 5 examples of Infographics

The detail put into this is brilliant, something as boring as gas prices has been shown in an educated and fun way keeping it relevant and interesting.

The amount of detail and information shown on this info graphic is outstanding. Using a dark background with light colours adding detail allows usability and functionality to not be effected by the amount of information shown. This will be a great help when thinking about how to tackle my project.

This is a really nice graphic and again showcases information with ease and functionality yet the reason i like this so much is because it is a CV. This really is inspiring.

Really alot of information shown simply and effectively.  This timeline looks beautiful

i choose this really because it was just funny but looks really scientific for an activity usually done without thinking.

Study Task 1 - 5 Examples of Branding & Identity

This is branding for warehouse the way the gloss and matt work so well together adds a really expensive feel to the document. The entire article looks very well made and put together and would be something you'd want to keep. Using high res imagery when creating documents like this is a must just looks so good.

This is a great example of a consistency within a brand. The colours and straight edges look brilliant. This clean cut and vectoristic look works really well and the print based side of it only increases the professionalist look of the pieces. The above shows how the brand can spread into the digital media as easily as printed and still look fantastic.

I love how the spot varnish is used onto of the matt black paper it just looks so beautiful and adds such texture to the document. The typeface used speaks luxury and works so well with the entire piece.

The above is one of the nicest examples of branding I've seen in ages. the debosed look on the front of the book giving off an almost glossy look and mixing the blacks with the yellows is brilliant. The letters being yellow and white to add contrast is really nice.

The above is probably the more boring of the selection but it all comes together really nicely and looks very professional. It looks much better than many branding I've seen but as its based on womens underwear i can imagine it isn't the easiest to design for...

Study Task 1 - 5 Examples of Packaging and Promotion

This is a beautiful example of a new energy coffee drink. The way the design has been done to use its neighbouring cans to create a huge pattern when staked next to each other. The matt effect of the can looks fresh and new and adds to the idea of milky drinks. The colours really work and i think this is a beautiful design.

This is a product design for vitamins and other pharmaceuticals. The nice colours and professional looking design makes them look new and modern. People would want these in their kitchens and on show because of the way they look.

I have seen this packaging before but every time i see it i smile. This is genius. The way you can straight away tell what juice drink or smoothy it is your buying just from replicating the fruits skin it is brilliant.

This is a 100% recyable paper bottle. This is a brilliant idea and a beautiful way of packaging something which doesn't usually match up. The way liquid is being contained in paper is outstanding. This would stand out from everything and it just looks beautiful... It would be interesting to see how companies like coca cola and red bull would package their drinks up using this idea.

This is a new can idea for an energy drink. I think the materials used and minimal look has been used perfectly. The way it looks so new and easily distinguished is brilliant. The colour coding of the bottom is a good idea and the unique ring pull onto of the can looks so futuristic.

Existing Car Adverts

I decided to research some car adverts which are already out in magazines to get an idea of what they design like to get peoples attention.

The above are all really nice examples and feel very photoshopped. I think by placing a vehicle in a surreal or almost unseen environment/situation adds excitement to looking at a car, for example the skoda advert shows a people carrier which looks awesome sat on the snow surrounded by penguins however the car itself may look a bit rubbish sat down the local Asda but yet I'm still drawn towards thinking its a really adventurous and land owning vehicle.
